Diagnostic methods in tuberculosis

This course aims to provide an educational update on the diagnosis and treatment of latent and active tuberculosis and infections of non-tuberculosis mycobacteria. The specific education aims are: -to introduce the pathogenesis of tuberculosis -to provide knowledge on epidemiology of tuberculosis, to provide the latest diagnostic approaches for latent and active tuberculosis, and to provide an update on antibiotic treatment of tuberculosis (paediatrics and adults) and nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases.

Intended audience: 

The course is open to CM and ID specialists and healthcare professionals related to the field.

Objectives:

  • Learning epidemiology of tuberculosis
  • Learning and describing the methods that are used in the diagnosis of tuberculosis
  • Describing the approaches that are used in the treatment of tuberculosis
  • Describing the approaches that are used in the treatment of NTM
