Infections resulting in cancers and cancer-related infections: the role of vaccines

This course will explore the intersection between virology and oncology. The course will highlight the role of vaccines in both preventing cancers and their infectious complications. It will explore special populations such as children, pregnant and lactating women, as well as bone marrow recipients.

Intended audience: 

The course is open for ID and CM professionals with a strong focus on practitioners

Objectives:

  • Increase awareness and implementation of vaccines to prevent cancers
  • Strengthen knowledge in vaccination strategies decreasing the risk of infections in cancer patients, especially those planned to receive chemotherapy
  • Set an individualised immunisation programme for different scenarios
  • Discuss special populations, such as children, pregnant and lactating women
  • Teach vaccination in bone marrow transplant recipients and other specific scenarios
