About

The ESCMID Foundation for Education, established in 2024 by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), works to strengthen educational offerings and enhance the support for specialists and trainees in clinical microbiology (CM), infectious diseases (ID) and related specialities, globally.

The ESCMID Foundation is built upon the principles of promoting science and education in CM and ID. This is achieved through the organisation and support of worldwide initiatives such as: 

• Educational courses & workshops
• Certifications & exchange programmes
• Outreach to low-resource countries to improve medical education and training
• Small specialised conferences/meetings
• Awarding scholarships and research grants for CM and ID specialists and trainees
• Supporting professional development of CM and ID specialists/trainees through continuing medical education (CME)

The ESCMID Foundation is led strategically by the Foundation Board, composed of medical and financial experts.
